Residents help out at SPCA

Germiston SPCA gets warmth on Mandela Day.

Residents went to the Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA to contribute 67 minutes of community work on Mandela Day.

“The day was a huge success, with our hospital and large kennel enclosure gates being sanded, prepared and painted. Wind proofing was installed in the cattery and quite a few repairs were done too,” said the SPCA’s manager, Mr Lawrence Kingston.

In addition to performing several repairs and maintenance, the SPCA’s grounds were also cleaned.

“To all those who donated hardware supplies, cash, food and blankets, we really appreciate it, ” said Mr Kingston.

“The animals in our care thoroughly enjoyed all the attention and the treats. The day would not have been a success without the support of the community, for which we are grateful.” said Mr Kingston.
