Police arrest man for attempted murder

The Jeppe SAPS arrested a man (35) for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm on July 25.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said police officers were patrolling when they received a call about a shooting at the corner of Thames and Fuller streets in Bertrams.

“On their arrival, they found a security guard. The guard told them two men with firearms wanted to rob a man in China City,” said W/O Munyai.

The security guard and his colleague chased the men who shot at the guards. The guards shot back and apprehended one of the suspects.

“The suspect was found in a possession of a revolver with the serial number filed off. It had three live rounds. Six spent cartridges were found at the scene,” said W/O Munyai.

The man will appear in court soon.
