Criminals broke into Eastleigh Primary School during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the school’s alarm was triggered at around 3am.
“Reaction officers who responded to the alarm did not notice any suspicious activity and left,” said Lt Col Roberts.
When staff arrived in the morning, they found the school had been burgled.
“Two safes were cut open. Money and valuables were taken,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that there is reason to believe those involved in the burglary at Eastleigh Primary School may also have been involved in a burglary at Laerskool MW De Wet Primary last week.
Anyone who may have information is urged to contact the Edenvale SAPS immediately on 011 553-8600.
