Hijackers drive off with victim

The men instructed the victim to sit in the rear of his vehicle. Two suspects entered the car and drove off with the victim.

A man was hijacked and robbed on Friday, August 15.

According to the Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Constable Mahamba, the victim was returning home after work at about 6pm. When he entered his driveway, another car stopped behind his.

“Three suspects exited the vehicle. One of the suspects had a firearm aimed at the victim. The men instructed the victim to sit in the rear of his vehicle. Two suspects entered the car and drove off with the victim,” said Const Mahamba.

“The suspects robbed the victim of his wallet and possessions. They also demanded his pin number to access his bank cards. Once the victim provided the suspects with his pin number, they stopped the vehicle and released him,” he said.

The victim managed to alert a security guard who called the police.

“No shots were fired during the hijacking, but the victim did sustain some injuries to one of his legs. No arrests have been made but investigations are continuing,” said Const Mahamba.
