Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a woman from Malvern alleged she received a phone call from one of the tenants informing her that her daughter (6) had been raped.
“She went to the suspect’s house at and found her child there. The child willingly told her mother that the suspect had been touching her since last year. The police were called and the suspect (41) was arrested,” said Const Mashakane.
The child was taken to hospital for a medical examination and it was confirmed she had been raped.
The man will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
