A man was arrested in Dowerglen on Wednesday afternoon for attempting to burgle a house.
The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the man and several accomplices tried to enter the house when they were scared off by the home owner.
“The men had already broken one of the house windows. When the men realised they had been caught red handed, they sped off in a white Mercedes Benz ML, leaving one of the men behind,” said Lt Col Roberts.
When the stranded burglar tried to flee, the SAPS with the help of SSG and the home owner, were able to catch the man.
“The man was found in possession of implements used in residential burglaries as well as gloves,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that the man and his accomplices were all smartly dressed and it is believed they live in Kensington.
The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning.
