Employee nabbed for fraud

The business owner found that the amount of total invoices was less than half of the number of cash deposits

An employee of a company in Kirby Road, Bedfordview, was arrested for fraud on Thursday, August 28.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “Prior to the arrest, the owner of the business was approached by a male employee requiring an increase on his salary.”

“The business owner informed the man that business was struggling financially and that an increase was not possible,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

“The employee said he had made the company a lot of money as he brought the company several clients. He then gave the business owner a file that contained the information of the clients he had brought to the company,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

“When the business owner checked the file, he noticed that the invoices supplied by the employee did not match the number of deposits made by customers. The business owner found that the amount of total invoices was less than half of the number of cash deposits,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

The business owner immediately alerted the police and a case of fraud was opened.

“Investigations are ongoing and the man is due to appear in the Germiston Court,” said Sgt Nhlabathi. @BedfordJourno
