Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said police officers were patrolling the corner of Jules and 19th streets in Malvern when they spotted two suspicious men with a bakkie carrying matrasses and base sets.
“The police officers approached the men and asked them about the goods. The men said they did not want their boss to find out about the load in the bakkie,” said Const Mashakane.
The suspects had taken the goods without the owner’s knowledge.
The men, aged 22 and 33, were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and detained at the Cleveland SAPS.
