Edenvale SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said a security guard was patrolling the area when he noticed two men acting suspiciously near a white Toyota bakkie.
“He approached the suspects and they showed him they were armed. They then walked to a getaway car, which was parked close by, and fled the scene,” said Lt Col Roberts.
On investigating, the police officers discovered that the suspects had already disabled the vehicle’s alarm system.
Lt Col Roberts commended the centre’s security for a quick response.
