A woman and two men were arrested for assault on November 24.
According to Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, of the Jeppe SAPS, a man and his girlfriend were walking along Ruven Street in Benrose when they began arguing.
It is believed the woman grabbed a stick and began beating her boyfriend.
The man managed to run away, but the woman stopped some people who were passing by and asked them to chase and catch the man.
Two men chased and managed to catch the woman’s boyfriend. The woman then claimed he had stolen her cellular phone.
According to W/O Munyayi, the men who chased and apprehended the boyfriend also assaulted him.
The man went to the police and opened a case of assault and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
W/O Munyayi said the woman and two men were arrested and detained. They are expected to appear in court soon.
Police investigations into the matter are still continuing.
