Also in attendance were Ms Plettenbacher's friends, Ms Joan Borslap of the Ambassador's Club and Ms Rosarie Saaijman from Constasia Ladies Club.

Bedfordview’s Mercure Hotel played host to this year’s instalment of the Annelise Breakfast Club’s (ABC) Christmas Breakfast.

During the event, which took place on November 13, founding honorary chairperson Anneliese Plettenbacher handed over R2 000 to Little Eden and R3 000 to the Help a Child Fund.

R4 000 in vouchers was also set aside for disadvantaged people living at the Jan Hofmeyer Centre.

Chairperson, Ms Ria Warrens, hosted the event.

Also in attendance were Ms Plettenbacher’s friends, Ms Joan Borslap of the Ambassador’s Club and Ms Rosarie Saaijman from Constasia Ladies Club.

The ABC Club also supported the Edenvale Maternity Hospital by knitting baby jumpers for mothers at the hospital and Nazareth House.

The hotel’s choir rendered a musical item while Mr Mirko Bornara had the crowd dancing to Christmas carols.

Ms Plettenbacher also announced the stepping down of Ms Warrens from her position as chairperson.

“A big thank you goes to her for making us smile and laugh over the past three years. We will miss her,” she said.

The meeting was the final meeting for the 2014 year.

Ms Warrens added that although theirs was not a charity club, the money collected in the meetings was donated to charitable organisations.
