According to Constable Thabo Malatji, from the Yeoville SAPS, the victim was walking along the street when he was approached by three men who pointed a firearm at him.
The suspects allegedly robbed the victim of money and his cellular phone.
The suspects fled and the victim saw a patrolling police vehicle and alerted the officers.
The suspects ran in different directions but the officers managed to arrest one of the suspects, who was carrying a toy gun.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s court soon.
The other two suspects are still at large.
Const. Malatji said they expect to make more arrests soon.
