Illegal advertising removed
On January 8, at about 10.30am, they returned to the site and removed the 15 remaining illegal signboards which had been placed on walls.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers removed illegal signboards posted by a new owner at a property in Marcia
This comes after months of trying to get the illegal advertising signboards removed by the new owner.
Confirmation was received from the advertising division at the Civic centre, advising that the owner had not applied for advertising rights with the Johannesburg city council.
On Wednesday, January 7, Sergeant Boolsen and Sergeant Masangwaje removed one metal advertising board, but it was too big and they had to leave it on-site. The officers returned the next day and removed the board.
On January 8, at about 10.30am, they returned to the site and removed the 15 remaining illegal signboards which had been placed on walls.
“The owner of the property was not available at the time, so the impounding notice was given to the security representative working at the complex. He assured me the notice would be given to the owner of the property,” said Sgt Boolsen.
“One of the notices instructed the owner to cover the two big, yellow advertising boards with black plastic or cloth, so that it could not be read until the owner successfully applied with council for advertising rights. Another notice was sent, instructing him to remove all the Chinese writing on the garden wall in Marcia Street, facing the public road, within seven days.”
Sgt Boolsen has vowed to keep a close eye on developments and will return to the site to remove any more signboards if the owner does not comply.
