Locals shine at volleyball tournament

Scores of fans flocked to the Edenvale Sports Grounds on Saturday last week for the Flying Fish National Beach Volleyball series that took place at Digz Beach.

Local team, made of Karina Kinsey and Meera Jivan, dominated their pool to fish on top.

Karina said this win secured them a spot in the quarter-finals in straight sets.

“We advanced to the semi-finals, which were held at Wits last Friday,” she said.

At the time of going to print, the results of the semi-finals were unavailable.

16 women’s teams and 21 men’s teams took part in the event.

From that, three of the local women’s and three of the local men’s teams progressed to the quarter-finals.
