The Malvern-based U/12 team recently played against teams like Betrams Super Stars and Dominican.

He said although his team was on a winning streak, he would like more support from members of the public.

“The soccer stars we see today were groomed from an early age with support from different stakeholders. We need our people to rally behind the young ones if we want them to have successful careers in soccer,” he said.

One of the players from the U/12 team told the EXPRESS he was inspired by big names such as Lucas Radebe and Doctor Khumalo.

“With the right mentors and their talent, I have hope that the players’ future is bright,” said Mbhele.
