Pupils support Drop Box campaign

Queens High School pupils give back to the community.

Queens High School RCL executive and leaders recently participated in a Drop Box campaign.

The venture set out to help the Johannesburg Children’s Home.

The home provides care and shelter to 64 children between the ages of three and 18 years old.

Regional courts place the children at the home, when it has been determined that the children are victims of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Children who are victims of neglect, or who have been abandoned, are also place at the home.

In its quest to contribute to the campaign, Queens High School pupils managed to fill 16 boxes for the home.

With the amount of drive from their home-rooms, which the leaders were assigned to, pupils were able to hand over more than expected.

Giving back to the community was the motivation for the successful Drop Box campaign.

Queens High School’s head girl, Odireleng Ramela, said she was grateful for the opportunity to give back and to be reminded that a good deed can go a long way.

“I challenge other schools and individuals to try and put a smile on the faces of the children at the Johannesburg Children’s Home. If everyone takes the initiative to help better the lives of others, the world could be a better place,” she said.
