Hijacked car found within 40 minutes

Two armed men pointed firearms at the woman and her colleague. The victim said she did not understand what the suspects were saying.

A car which was hijacked along New York Street, between Protea and Queen streets in Kensington, was recovered about 40 minutes later.

The incident took place on July 15, shortly after 7pm.

According to the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, a woman and her colleague were hijacked as they were parking in a driveway.

“Two armed men pointed firearms at the woman and her colleague. The victim said she did not understand what the suspects were saying. She just gave them the car keys. She and her colleague then stepped out of the car and the men drove off in her car,” said Const Mashakane.

She said the car was later found abandoned along Wyndcliff and Jolly streets in Yeoville.
