Shop owner, staff robbed at gunpoint

The manager was ordered to take out the money that was in a drawer.

A manager and staff were held at gunpoint during a robbery on August 16, at a shop along Jules Street in Malvern.

The incident occurred shortly after 9am.

The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said the manager and the staff were preparing to open the shop for business when two men, carrying firearms, entered the shop.

“The manager told them the shop was not open yet. One of the men pointed a gun at the manager.

“He ordered him to go to the office. The manager was ordered to take out the money that was in a drawer. The other man took the staff’s cellular phones and cash, which was inside the cash registers,” said Const Mashakane.
