R250-million vote of confidence in Bedfordview CBD

Larger users can also be comfortably accommodated by combining units.

Despite the current economic gloom and doom in the country and the dearth of capital projects, Bedfordview will receive a R250-million investment injection in the form of a new 8 000 square metre sectional title office development in the CBD.

Situated on a site bounded by Van der Linde, Smith and Arbroath roads, the new building will be situated directly opposite the popular Bedford centre.

Mr James Coutts, the spokesperson for Soar Developments, confirmed construction was well on track for completion in mid-2017, with the three storey concrete structure topping out by the end of this year.

Mr Coutts said the rationale of the sectional office model was to allow Bedfordview business, both big and small, to purchase their own premises within an existing infrastructure and so share in what he believes will be a dramatic and sustained increase in the value of real estate in Bedfordview in the future.

With prices of the self contained units starting in the mid-R3-millions, they are comfortably within the reach of the small to medium business owner to own their premises and build a solid property asset while having security of tenure.

Larger users can also be comfortably accommodated by combining units.

Leasing options are also available as Mr Coutts confirmed they have received numerous enquiries from investment purchasers as well as owner occupiers.

Mr Coutts says that initial sales were encouraging and buyers have commented favourably on the slick contemporary look and the sustainable aspect of the green installations, designed to reduce running costs.

Other positive comments have centred around the amenities offered by the close proximity to the shopping centre and motorway system.
