Sharp-eyed officers make steroids bust

The driver had no permit to have the steroids in his possession.

Edenvale SAPS Crime Prevention members made a drug bust worth about R300 000 on March 9.

The SAPS members were patrolling in the Edenvale area and noticed a suspicious man driving. The officers ordered the driver to stop.

The members searched his car and found a suspicious white powder in the car, which the driver had no explanation for.

“The powder appeared to be CAT,” said the acting spokesperson at the Edenvale SAPS, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers.

The power was sent for testing.

The SAPS members searched the boot of the vehicle and found a box containing more suspicious items. Once the members had inspected the box, it was found that the items were steroids, which are controlled under the Controlled Medicines Act.

W/O Olckers said the driver did not have a permit to have the items in his possession.

The estimated value of the narcotics is estimated to be about R300 000.
