The scrapyard owner immediately contacted the Edenvale SAPS to diffuse and collect the device.

An explosive round was brought to at an Edenvale scrapyard this morning.

The scrapyard owner immediately contacted the Edenvale SAPS to diffuse and collect the device.

Spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Warrant Officer Jean Olkers said the device was a “live” round, brought in by a member of the public.

He added that “if members of the public find ammunition, they must not handle it” but instead call the SAPS.
