New patrons appointed for uBambiswano Committee

Guests were treated to conversations with a few past and present uBambiswano pupils.

On June 11, Annette dos Santos and the uBambiswano Committee hosted a breakfast in honour of the four newly-appointed patrons to the programme, namely Tsakane

Ratsela, Deshnee Naidoo, Gill Morris and Taryn Sumpton.

uBambiswano, which means ‘Holding Hands’ is a Saturday School programme which was founded by and is held at St Andrew’s School for Girls, for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-performing schools.

Guests were treated to conversations with a few past and present uBambiswano pupils, as they shared stories of how the social development programme has changed their lives, and those of their families.

Bongani, a past pupil, compared uBambiswano’s influence on the lives of its recipients to planting apple seeds, saying, “The programme picks out the seeds and plants them, nourishes and nurtures them.”
