Suspect arrested for cable theft in Kensington

CLEVELAND – Cable theft in the area is on the increase.

Cleveland police arrested a man for cable theft on the corner of Ocean and Cumberland streets in Kensington on 3 September, following a tip-off.

“The police rushed to the address and, at the substation they found a male person hiding. They searched him and found a bolt cutter and other tools on him which he allegedly used to cut the electric copper cable,” said Cleveland Police Station spokesperson, Captain Johan Jordaan.

“Police officers also recovered a huge piece of the cable and they arrested the suspect for the cable theft.

“Cable theft in the Cleveland policing area is a problem and the arrest of this suspect can be seen as a very good success. The suspect will also appear in court soon while investigations continue.”
