Cops nab most wanted suspect

"The suspect was one of the most wanted suspects in Edenvale."

A woman who has been on the run from the Edenvale SAPS for a number of years is finally behind bars.

Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, said the woman was sought in connection with more than seven cases, including common robbery, theft and fraud, dating back to 2010.

“The arrest was made by the provincial tracing team,” said Capt Olckers.

“She was one of the most wanted suspects in Edenvale,” he added.

It is believed the woman and her accomplice committed the crimes while parked at schools.

They would pretend they had mechanical car problems

According to Capt Olckers, the suspect and her accomplice would approach unsuspecting children and ask them if she could use their phones to call someone for assistance.

“Once in possession of the child’s phone, the pair would drive off with it,” said Captain Olckers.

Edenvale SAPS detectives will now be able to close the cases against the woman.

“She will appear in court shortly,” said Capt Olckers.

He said the woman will remain behind bars until her case and sentencing has been concluded.

Capt Olckers said the woman was sentenced for her crimes and was appealing her case when she skipped bail and failed to go back to court.

“The women never met the conditions of the bail,” said Capt Olckers.
