Victim sees armed robbers off

CLEVELAND – Two suspects are expected to appear in court for attempted armed robbery.

Cleveland police officers arrested two suspects for allegedly attempting to rob a victim on Highland Road in Kensington on 21 March. The suspects were also charged with possession of firearms.

According to the station’s spokesperson, Captain Johan Jordaan, the two suspects allegedly pointed a firearm at the complainant. “The complainant grabbed the gun and started to scream for help. Members of the community saw what happened and when they came to help the victim, the suspects ran away,” said Jordaan.

Police officers were called to the scene and the reaction unit was at the crime scene a few minutes after being contacted.

“While taking a statement, a lookout was given over the police radio and constables Shadrick Ngobeni and Mashudu Neudani made the arrest shortly after.

“They proved that they will leave no stone unturned to do their work properly. These two constables can be commended for a job well done,” concluded Jordaan.
