SAPS vigilance pays off

"The matter will be investigated."

Four suspects were arrested by the Edenvale SAPS while a fifth ran away when vigilant officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in sector two.

The arrests were made by members of the Edenvale SAPS Crime Prevention Unit on June 27.

“While on patrol, the officers noticed a suspicious silver Toyota Avanza parked outside a shop and stopped to search the vehicle,” said Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS.

When the officers stopped to search the car, one of the suspects fled on foot.

Olckers said during the search the officers found a pistol hidden under the seat of the vehicle.

The men, between the ages of 26 and 32, were arrested by the police.

“The matter will be investigated,” said Olckers.

He added that a private security company helped the officers at the scene.

Olckers urged community members to report all crime to 08600 10111 or 10111.
