JEPPE - The sky is the limit for Moloi.

Hlomisa Sydney Moloi, a detective warrant officer at Jeppe Police Station, is passionate about investigating crime.

Moloi joined the SAPS as a student constable in 1986 and has been a detective since 1992.

He said after working for the police force for more than 31 years, he does not see himself doing anything else other than investigating crime.

“I became an investigator after I was told to investigate a case in which a person was knocked down by a train at George Goch and Jeppe railway station. I left no stone unturned,” said Moloi.

He said one of the commanders saw potential in him and so he was promoted to detective.

Moloi said the reason he chose to become a police officer was to give back to the community.

“My brother was shot and killed while I was in high school. There was nothing I could do back then to ensure that justice was served. Deep inside I knew that I would help other people who find themselves in a situation like that of my brother,” he said.

Moloi said after completing matric, he went to Hammanskraal SAPS where he was trained to become a police officer.

“I was promoted to constable officer after completing my training and worked at CR Swart Square which is now called Durban Central Police. I was transferred to Jeppe in 1987 and have never looked back,” he said.

Moloi also stays active in his spare time. Last year he participated in the Comrades’ Marathon and finished in 10 hours and 28 minutes.

“I am going to do it again,” he said.
