Mflathelwa family struggling to cope
MALVERN – Sibongile was knocked down after the driver of the vehicle lost control and mounted the pavement.
The family of nine-year-old Sibongile Mflathelwa said they are struggling to cope after she was knocked down by a car earlier this month.
Sibongile was knocked down after the driver of the vehicle lost control and mounted the pavement.
When the EXPRESS visited her home in Malvern, the nine-year-old was still hospitalised at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.
The EXPRESS spoke to her sister Anelisa as their mother, Lindiwe, had gone to the hospital.
“It is really a difficult time for our family. We are worried about her education. When the incident occurred, she was still writing her exams. We went to her school to explain what transpired,” she said.
Anelisa said her younger sister recalls the incident.
“She can even remember the colour of the car,” said Anelisa.
Anelisa said her mother is unemployed. It is difficult for the family to go to the hospital every day as there is no income.
“We call on the community to assist us. We need to go for counselling,” said Anelisa.
Anyone who would like to help the family can contact Anelisa on 061 241 5780.
