Rotarian father and son to summit Kilimanjaro

Team Makhari will depart from OR Tambo on Friday, August 18

Rotarian and Past President Peter Makhari and his son Lufuno Makhari are set to summit Mount Kilimanjaro.

They departed from OR Tambo on Friday, August 18 and started their journey on the Saturday.

Team Makhari will return to base camp on August 25 and travel back the following day.

Rotary Club of Bedfordview President, Alan Rock, presented Rotarian Peter Makhari with Club banners to take with him on his first attempt to climb the mountain.

Sponsorship challenges were offered from base camp to Uhuru Peak.

All proceeds donated will go to Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.

The club, family and friends wish the duo success with their exciting and adventurous goal.

Rotary Club of Bedfordview members meet every Tuesday evening at the Belgravia Bowling Club.
