Sindy makes a difference for the youth

JOBURG – Sindy teaches about 30 children traditional dances, drama and majorettes.

Malvern resident Sindy Ndlela and founder of the Vulinkungu youth group said the group was formed to prevent children from abusing drugs and alcohol.

Sindy teaches about 30 children traditional dances, drama and majorettes.

The group practises three times a week and Sindy also started a support group for adolescents recently.

“I love children. It breaks my heart to see children using drugs and alcohol. I started the youth group to help children to stay way from substance abuse,” she said.

Sindy is faced with many challenges and would like the community to support the youth group.

“I don’t have a permanent venue for teaching the children. I currently use a space at Cleveland SAPS.

“We only have one drum and it’s a challenge when we go to perform at events. I am pleading to anyone who would like to help us with drums and a place to practise to contact me,” she said.

The group members have to take a train when travelling to performances.

“The train is not safe for children, but I do not have a car. I would appreciate it if we can get a sponsor who can assist us with anything,” she said.

Anyone willing to assist can contact Sindy on 060 551 3841.
