The exhibition called City Spirit captures the beauty around us that we easily miss on daily bases.

“My photos are not planned. I just talk with people in the street who are happy to become the focus and it’s a magical thing,” explained Brendon.

He said his love for photography comes from his father who never traveled anywhere without a camera.

“He encouraged us to carry cameras and that triggered my creative side. I have tried painting and drawing but could not capture what my eye saw and photography became my medium of choice. The camera allows me to be creative,” said Brendon.

He said he is happy to share his work for the first time.

“This exhibition is a watershed moment in my creative life, an opportunity to show off my physical work, other than via social media. My desire to be creative finally gained a platform and I hope it is the start of many other such opportunities,” said Brendon.

His photos are taken in well-known places like Maboneng, Kensington and surrounding areas.

“Through my work, I try to capture the beauty that I always seek to see rather than the dull, depressing or damaged reality of our existence,” said Brendon.

“I hope people feel inspired to appreciate the world around them just a little more and to take a moment to enjoy those fleeting experiences that make up life,” said Brendon.

The photos showcased at the exhibition are photos that Brendon has taken for the past two years.

He said the exhibition was an encouragement from friends.

“I share my photos on social media and one of my friends said I should do an exhibition. I decided to take the step and here we are,” said Brendon.

He invites residents to visit the Cut and Craft to view his work. The exhibition will be open until December 16.
