A pipe that burst a few weeks ago in Bedfordview has caused damage on the pavement outside one of the businesses on Boeing Road.
Attempts to find the exact location of the water leak have not yielded any results so far.
Natalie Venter, who is from the business, said the pavement at their entrance was damaged as a result of the water leak.
“The municipality tried to fix it but they didn’t do a good job of it,” said Venter.
Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys said the matter had been reported and the municipality was working to trace the source of the leak.
“This is a concern because the water has been leaking for weeks now and we still don’t know where it comes from,” said Humphreys. “The area where the digging was done has been barricaded to ensure the safety of motorists, but it is still not safe because some motorists drive past here at a high speed and only realise later that there is a hole.”
Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the city was working hard to find the exact location of the leak.
“The leak seems to originate from under the freeway,” Gadebe said. “The municipality has appointed a leak detecting consultant who will trace the leak. We are expecting the test results soon and will repair the moment it is located.”
