Masonic Lodges hold open day
"Approximately R26-million donations have been made to charities by the district of South Africa, North and its Lodges over the past 21 years.”

The Masonic Lodges, which meet at the Kensington Masonic Hall, held an open day on March 21 to attract new and prospective members to join their fraternity.
Assistant district grand master Simon Knutton said they decided to have an open day at Kensington as they have four lodges that meet there.
He said Freemasonry is a place for men to meet as a fraternity.
“It is to bring like-minded men together with the view of putting them on a path to self-improvement,” he said.

The current worldwide membership totals over six million.
“It is a positive environment that reminds every Mason of his duty, community, family and himself.
“Approximately R26-million donations have been made to charities by the district of South Africa, North and its Lodges over the past 21 years,” he said.
Knutton said charity is one of the important facets of Freemasonry, and while Freemasonry is not a benevolent society, it actively practises charity.
“Our members are expected to care for those in society who are in need and less fortunate than themselves, whether they be Freemasons or not,” said Knutton.
