Sable Patrol camp at the Modderfontein Conservancy
The Sable Patrol of the 1st Bedfordview Scout Troop recently camped at the Modderfontein Conservancy.
The Sable Patrol of the 1st Bedfordview Scout Troop recently camped at the Modderfontein Conservancy.
They assisted with the development of the reserve by levelling ground and installing posts for a fence in the conservancy.
This will hopefully benefit all users of the conservancy, which boasts several species of indigenous antelope and abundant bird life, including the long-crested and African fish eagles.

The project was carried out under the leadership of Michael Westhoff as part of his First Class Badge.
In addition to offering an exciting outdoors programme with activities like camping, hiking, boating and rock-climbing, scouting also teaches its members to be better citizens through projects like this one.
A First Class level requires the candidate to plan, lead and execute a community service project of at least ten hours.
