Community embraces Bedford Centre Walk for Charity

“There is no winner, everyone is a winner today,” said Nikki Savides, marketing manager at Bedford Centre.

Residents from all over came out to support the Bedford Centre Walk for Charity, where R68 000 was raised on October 18.

The proceeds of the walk were donated to St Giles Association for the Handicapped and Avalon Home for the Disabled.

Each charity walked away with R34 000 after numerous families joined in on the 5km fun walk.

Family and friends walked the 5km fun walk together.

Kensington resident Mark Chatham crossed the finish line in first place while Mpumi Mlshali from Midrand crossed in second place.

“There is no winner, everyone is a winner today,” said Nikki Savides, marketing manager at Bedford Centre.

Medals were handed out to everyone who walked for St Giles and Avalon.

Run/Walk For Life handed out medals to all participants of the walk.

The day continued with a celebration for all the participants.

Amohelang Motijoane, Mmbatho Motijoane, Thabiso Motijaone and Karabo Motijoane supported the walk for charity.

Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant, Salsa Mexican Grill, Planet Fitness, Leapfrog Property Group and KwikFit Bedfordview all had stalls in support of the walk and some provided spot prizes for participants.

The day also boasted entertainment with live music to keep everyone moving to the beat.

The 5km walk kicked off at 8am.

There were also jumping castles and face painting for the children and food stalls.

“Thank you to all those who participated and donated to this year’s Bedford Centre Walk for Charity,” said Savides.

Participants cross the finish line with family and friends.
After the walk participants danced and had fun.
Nhlanhla Jordan from Avalon Home for the Disabled was happy to receive the R34 000 from the Bedford Centre Walk for Charity.
The Cover-Ups kept everyone dancing.
Mascots provided entertainment after the 5km fun walk.
Participants did the fun walk with their dogs.
Mpumi Mlshali finished in second place.
