Christmas message from Vusi Zondo

He urged the community to look after each other.

The festive season is around the corner and that means spending time with friends and family and giving to those less fortunate.

Ward 61 Clr Vusi Zondo said residents must take care of themselves during the holiday season.

“I would like to send my warmest wishes to all those who are celebrating Christmas. It has been an emotional year across Joburg and I hope during the festive season we find renewed hope and happiness,” said Zondo.

He said the ward lost community members this year to crime and that has left a sense of bitterness in the community.

“We had a number of murders in the community that left residents feeling unsafe. We managed to get past it and give support to one another through those difficult times. I hope the community will continue with that spirit of support into next year,” said Zondo.

He said the ward has a number of challenges which are influenced by several factors.

“Unemployment plays a huge part in some of the challenges the ward faces. As a councillor, I would love to see those situations change for our people to find hope of making a better life for themselves,” expressed Zondo.

He urged the community to look after each other.

“If you are staying at home, you need to look after the children and make sure they are safe at all times. If you are going to be travelling, obey the rules of the road and drive safely. Also, remember when we celebrate to share with people who do not have families and others who cannot afford Christmas lunch and gifts. If you are fortunate to have more, share with others and make their Christmas special as well,” urged Zondo.

He also expressed his gratitude to the community and his colleagues for the continuous support.

“Let’s continue to support each other in our work and come back ready to serve our communities in 2019. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. God bless,” said Zondo.
