Assumption unveils three new rowing boats

The boats where named Teresa, Gillian and Caroline.

Assumption Convent School (ACS) Rowing Club hosted a Gauteng schools’ rowing regatta at Roodeplaat Dam on January 19.

The occasion was made memorable by the unveiling of the three new rowing boats.

The boats where named Teresa, Gillian and Caroline.

Teresa, unveiled by Neville Workman, was named after the mother of charity, Mother Teresa, and is considered the new “mother ship” of the rowing club.

Teresa was unveiled by Neville Workman.

Caroline was unveiled by Caroline Kapp, who was a long-serving rowing coach at ACS in the times when the rowing club was at risk of closing down.

She refused to allow the club to close and through her efforts the club is where it is today.

Gillian was unveiled by Gillian Workman.

The Workman family has always shown great support to the rowing club and continues to do so. This boat is named in honour of their contribution to the rowing club.
