Wedge Gardens warns Devon community about substance abuse

“You can’t do drugs and hope to progress at school or have a successful career.”

Wedge Gardens Treatment Centre in Edenvale was hosted by the community of Devon and Zikhethele High School on February 20, to educate learners about substance abuse and the effect it can have on a person’s life.

The learners and community members were addressed by social worker Rhulani Khoza and a Wedge Gardens resident who shared his first-hand experience of drug addiction.

The campaign was coordinated by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Rhulani encouraged people to find their purpose and shed light on how drugs can deter one from fulfilling their dreams.

“You can’t do drugs and hope to progress at school or have a successful career,” said Rhulani.
