Police provide safety tips to residents

Safety awareness campaign sees Cleveland SAPS take to the streets.

The Social Crime Prevention Unit at Cleveland SAPS held an Awareness Campaign in the vicinity of Malvern including the clinic on Jules Street on May 16.

Sgt Olga Monwana gave a reading on safety to visitors at the clinic, and also explaining the focus of the awareness campaign.

The residents were informed on how to obtain protection orders, and also given the important facts about drug and family abuse.

People were also given brochures containing personal safety tips.

The safety tips include:

• Know the police station number and all emergency numbers.

• Always tell someone where you are going.

• Do not display valuables like cellphones, jewellery, et cetera in public.

• You have the right to say no when feeling uncomfortable.
