Future plans for Modderfontein are up in the air and the wait is on developer M&T who bought the land from Zendai.
Residents of Modderfontein have expressed their concerns on what the future of Modderfontein will be after Zendai, the previous developer, sold to M&T.
M&T was tight-lipped about plans for the area even as residents got more and more unsettled about their place of home.

Requests for clarity on what the future plans of M&T for the area were, was sent to Leticia Potts, the director of M&T, and her office replied, “Currently, we are not releasing information regarding the future developments.”
The reason why M&T cannot reveal plans yet was not stated.
A resident of Modderfontein, Robbie Vermont, said there was no formal, local announcement of the sale of the land to M&T as far as he is aware.
“I was told that the news was shared by business and financial publications. M&T has not explained its intentions, as far as I know,” said Vermont.

CoJ’s City Transformation and Spatial Planning Senior Specialist Ayanda Ncgobo said they have received plans from M&T.
“Yes, the land was sold to M&T and they are currently busy with more detailed, precinct planning. The plans are currently being reviewed internally by the City.”
The wait for locals will continue until the silence is broken on the past megacity in the making.
