“I made the decision after a family friend struggled for a long while in need of an organ transplant.”
Jackie Allen from Kelly’s modelling academy, House of Style Models, said South Africa has a dire shortage of organs available for transplant.
“This results in people dying before a match can be found.”
The pageant queen said she researched the topic of organ donation and hoped that someone would be able to donate to her should she need a transplant.
“I am a strong believer in treating others the way you would want to be treated.”
Her message to the youth was to spend a little time doing some research on the difference they can make in someone’s life and consider signing up.
