Senderwood house robbery spree ends in hijacking, shootout and arrest

"One of the suspects was injured in the shoot-out and was arrested at the scene," said De Jager.

Robbers fleeing the scene of two house robberies in Senderwood, Bedfordview earlier today opened fire at security officers before crashing their vehicle and hijacking another car to escape.

It is unknown, at this stage, whether the two houses are situated on the same property.

According to information received security officers were responding to an alarm activation on Bedford Road when the suspects fired shots at them.

“While trying to flee the scene the suspects crashed their vehicle,” said Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Andre De Jager.

The suspects then hijacked another vehicle and escaped.

“One of the suspects was injured in the shoot-out and was arrested at the scene,” said De Jager.

Officers recovered one firearm at the scene.
