Flying squad commander has a passion to help others

“While growing up, I often saw people victimised so I grew up wanting to help people.”

With close to 30 years of policing experience behind him, Lt Col Madimetja Kgole confidently leads the Germiston Flying Squad.

He was appointed commander of the unit in December 2018, after being with the unit for 22 years.

However, before joining the flying squad Kgole spent several years at Duduza Police Station after he completed his training at the SAPS college.

After Duduza Police Station, Kgole was part of the Brakpan Highway Patrol before it was amalgamated into the flying squad.

Kgole explained that he joined the police to serve and protect the citizens of South Africa.

Kgole said what he enjoys most about the unit is that it responds to serious and violent crimes.
