Ngcobo talks about her love for the SAPS

“After applying, I fell in love with the SAPS and love it to this day.”

With 10 years of policing experience behind her, Const Ntombikayse Ngcobo has a passion for helping others.

The Germiston Flying Squad’s communications officer joined the service in 2009.

The flying squad covers areas from Bedfordview and Alberton to Nigel and Springs and includes 23 police stations

In her first year as an officer, Ngcobo was assigned to KwaThema Police Station in Springs.

Germiston Flying Squad’s communications officer Const Ntombikayse Ngcobo met with the NEWS to discuss her passion for the police service and helping others.

Although she loves being a member of the SAPS, the service was not her first choice for a career path.

“Growing up, I had always wanted to serve those in need.”

Ngcobo initially wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and become a doctor, but did not have the right marks. However, she was accepted to study radiography.

“While thinking about what I wanted to do, someone I knew suggested the SAPS.

Germiston Flying Squad’s communications officer Const Ntombikayse Ngcobo met with the NEWS to discuss her passion for the police service and helping others.

After KwaThema Police Station, Ngcobo moved to Ratanda Police Station in Heidelberg.

In 2015, she joined the flying squad and was appointed communications officer in 2017.

Besides her passion for policing Ngcobo enjoys spending time with her daughter and family members when she can.

“Family time is very special and although I have a large family, most of them live in KwaZulu-Natal so some of the people I consider family aren’t related by blood.”

In addition to spending time with her family, Ngcobo makes sure she has enough time to study for her Bachelor of Law.

She is currently a second-year student at the University of South Africa.

Ngcobo said once she has her law degree, she will continue to be a SAPS member.
