Taroko trails clear the greens for exercising
Manager of Taroko Shaun Oosthuizen said their trails opened on June 1.
Exercise has been an important part of lockdown for those who tried to keep fit and stay healthy at home.
Now, everyone can exercise at their local nature reserve.
On May 31, Taroko Trails announced that they will be opening the gates of Modderfontein Nature Reserve.
Manager of Taroko Shaun Oosthuizen said their trails opened on June 1.

“Our freshly cut greens are ready to receive all runners and cyclists for their daily exercise and training.”
The manager explained that they will only be allowing exercise activities to take place in an effort to adhere to the level three lockdown restrictions.
“Unfortunately, the trails will not be open for recreational or leisure activities. We will also do our very best to ensure full compliance and enforcement of all the necessary safety precautions as prescribed by the government.”
Shaun urged riders and runners to do the same.

“Everybody entering the premises will need to wear a mask or buff, comply with hand sanitation practices and maintain social distancing. Most of all, we would like to see our cyclists and runners enjoy the trails and all the beauty that nature has to offer.”
“The park will be open for exercise from 6am to 6pm every day of the week. We would like to thank everyone who has sent a message and especially the runners and cyclists who joined us on our trails this week so far. We would like to inform the runners and hikers that the trails are exclusively for running.

“The health enthusiasts are still cutting and trimming some paths due to the speed of nature and plant growth which happened during lockdown. We will do our best to have all the trails ready in no time. We encourage you to still use the facility for your outdoor run as there are many other roads,” said Shaun.
