St Andrew’s girls support Itemba soup kitchen
All the bags were delivered to Itemba soup ktchen.
St Andrew’s School for Girls Grade Seven learners used their 67 minutes of service in honour of former President Nelson Mandela to create bags of hope.
They made bags using reusable items at homes, such as cereal boxes and packaging. The girls then filled the bags with handmade bookmarks with a quote from Nelson Mandela, personal messages of hope, disposable masks, something delicious and items such as stationery, reading material and hygiene.
All the bags were delivered to the Itemba soup kitchen.

“We were blessed by the school with gift bags. Suvana Majiare, Ms Deaf SA 2020 finalist, volunteered at the soup kitchen and assisted in handing out the gifts,” said Itemba in a statement.
“We were all very impressed with the way the learners made use of recycled material and there were some lovely inspiring messages that accompanied the bags. Thank you very much to the school, parents and learners. You all made a difference in these women’s lives.”
