The event was hosted by the Zambia Association in South Africa (ZASA) on November 5 at Edenvale Sports Club, attended by Zambia’s acting high commissioner in South Africa Inonge Mwenya.

Attendees took part in various activities such as sports, dancing and singing as well as enjoying the showcase of Zambian traditional foods and attires.
Mwenya called on Zambian natives residing in the country to invest and contribute to economic development and job creation in Zambia in light of the progressive economic policies of the new government.
“The new government is committed to providing a conducive socio and economic environment that will improve the well-being of all Zambians.
“I urge all Zambians to live in harmony and unite for the common purpose of contributing to the development of the country for the benefit of all,” said Mwenya.
Mwenya urged Zambians in South Africa to be true flag bearers of Zambia to the outside world through positive behaviour and contributions to the well-being of all wherever they are.

Publicity secretary of ZASA, Tina Nyathi, said it is important to celebrate this historic event as it symbolises the day which Zambian nationals were liberated.
