Bedfordview brothers turn party into platform for community upliftment

“Although the idea was to have fun, it was not to host a massive party but rather to help out the community.”

As a way of giving back to the community, two brothers recently hosted an initiative which saw revellers give back while having a good time.

Hosted at the View in Bedford, the event on June 15 was titled ‘Seeing People’.

One of the organisers, Vukile Sibiya, explained that the event was all about giving back.

“Our community is predominantly a young crowd, students, and Gen–Z, so we wanted to focus on these young people who wanted to give back to others while having a good time.”

He said that, as DJs, they came up with the idea of hosting an event where admission would require attendees to donate items for those in need.

“While the idea was to have fun, the main purpose was not to host a massive party but to give back to the community,” he said.

Vukile added that all the DJs who performed at the event volunteered their services and worked for free.

Fellow organiser Vuka said the event went well. He said many guests visited the event to donate items and learn more about the campaign.

Vuka said donations ranged from books, blankets, and cans of food.

The brothers said the donations will be distributed to local charities.

The brothers explained that their passion for helping others began in high school. “While in high school, I realised I had the ability to motivate and inspire people, and it made me realise that I have a platform,” said Vukile.

He said the brothers hope to continue empowering the community and the youth to continue looking out for one another.
