Suspect arrested with illegal firearm in Edenvale stop-and-search

Edenvale SAPS arrested a suspect and confiscated an unlicensed firearm during a routine patrol on June 28. The new Tekkie Squad spotted suspicious activity on Terrace Road in Eastleigh, leading to the recovery of a .22 calibre weapon with live ammunition.

During a routine crime prevention patrol members of Edenvale SAPS and Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens recently arrested one suspect and recovered an illegal firearm.

On June 28 under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Shadrack Magcuntsu Edenvale SAPS recently established Tekkie Squad of crime prevention wardens identified three suspicious men standing along Terrace Road in Eastleigh.

After a stop and search was conducted police recovered an unlicensed Burgo .22 caliber firearm with 6 rounds of ammunition from one suspect.

Magcuntsu said the 33 year old suspect was arrested and detained at Edenvale Police Station.
