EMPD seizes drugs in Ekurhuleni raids

Nine suspects were arrested in separate incidents across Ekurhuleni after EMPD officers confiscated illegal substances valued at more than R13 000.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement and Community Liaison units confiscated illegal substances worth over R13 000 during recent operations across the CoE.

According to the EMPD, the operation was part of its continued efforts to rid communities of drugs and related criminal activities.

During the crackdown, officers arrested nine male suspects after finding various illegal substances on them, including crystal meth, Mandrax and dagga. The combined street value of these items is approximately R13 580.

The suspects were detained at their respective police stations and face charges of dealing in and possession of illegal substances. They will soon appear before the relevant magistrates’ courts.

The EMPD reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, urging residents to continue reporting drug-related crimes to help ensure safer communities.
